Year 6 Day 295
Weather: Cold but warmer than The Founder have experienced of late
Hexes Explored: None
The Founders separate and use various means to enter The City of Drelev, doing their best to keep a low profile. They find the settlement to be rundown and impoverished in the extreme with Lord Drelev’s mercenary guards acting as a law unto themselves; using and abusing the locals for their enrichment and enjoyment.
The Founders make contact with Satinder Morne, madam of The Velvet Corner. After being presented with Kissandra’s ring she takes The Founders into her confidence. From Satinder The Founders learn that Lord Drelev is holed-up in his castle, along with his wife, his lover and his brother-in-law, and leaves his guards to do as they please. She warns The Founders to expect no help from the locals as they are too cowed to fight.
Having witnessed the casual brutality of Drelev’s men (particularly towards women) The Founders are more determined than ever to bring him to some form of justice.
Satinder offers her establishment as a place for The Founders to hide as well as telling them of a secret escape tunnel that leads from the castle to the shore of the lake.
Using a Commune with Nature spell Josiman is able to locate the lake-side exit of the tunnel. The Founders use the tunnel to begin their infiltration of the castle. The first obstacle they have to overcome is a pair of huge Black Puddings.
Using the tunnel The Founders penetrate into the cellars of Lord Drelev’s castle. They quickly find and free Lord Numesti. They also discover a series of secret hatches that, when combined with some ingenuity and magic, allow The Founders to ascend through the castle unseen.
The Founders confront Lord Drelev in his throne room. While Drelev and a few of his guards put up a fight most of his guards either surrender or flee. Lord Drelev’s lover, the beautiful Lady Maray, sides with The Founders claiming that she was being held against her will.
Lord Drelev is overpowered but as The Founders discuss how he should be dealt with they notice that some of his mercenaries have released the Hill-Giants and sent them into the city. The Founders manage to contain and slay the giants as well as several of the guards. The wizard Stroon also joins the battle, initially concentrating his spells on Lynessa, but is driven from the battlefield.
Once the situation is under control The Founders search the tower. They find Baroness Drelev and order her to leave the city.
In the library The Founders discover a map of the region showing the approximate location of the Tiger Barbarian camp.
That evening Lady Maray reveals to King Aldous and Alex that she is a spy from the Assassins Guild of Daggermark. Lady Maray strikes a deal with the king to remain in Drelev in exchange for allowing him to see the reports that she sends back to Daggermark.
Lynessa teleports back to Tatzlford to inform Kisandra of recent developments and to begin the process of supplies being sent to Drelev.
(Obtained by Josiman’s Commune with Nature spell) There is a powerful, unnatural creature dwelling some miles to the south of The City of Drelev. It is estimated to be in the area of the Boggard city.
The sword Enemy of all Enemies contains the soul of the barbarian warlord Armag and will possess whoever wields it. The church of The Angry Hag have raised and groomed a warrior for this very fate; in effect becoming the new Armag.
Old Hooktongue has been seen in the lake for the first time in years.
Where the slough meets the Narlmarches is an area that produces walking “bog mummies”.
The Boggards are disrupting trade between Mivon and Brevoy.
Molis, a priest of Hanpsur who tended the local shrine in Drelev, fled back into the swamp to avoid the persecutions of Baron Drelev
